One Center Point: Safe. Strong. United.

Meet the Candidate

Visionary with a heart to serve the residents

Bobby Scott Jr. was born in Hale County Hospital in Greensboro, Alabama, and raised in the tight-knit farming community of Newbern. From a young age, he learned the values of hard work, service, and faith from his parents, Fannie Scott and Bobby Scott Sr., who were pillars of their community and his greatest inspiration. He attended Sunshine High School from kindergarten through graduation, later earning a degree in Computer Information Systems from Herzing College after studying at UAB.

Bobby went on to work for 17 years as a software engineer at Fiserv, a Fortune 500 financial technology company, and also spent six years in the hospitality industry, gaining a deeper understanding of people and service.

His call to public service came from a desire to ensure Center Point's youth and underserved voices were represented and supported. After serving on the City Council from 2016 to 2020, he was elected Mayor in 2020 and has proudly led the city for the past four and a half years.

As mayor, Bobby has prioritized senior support, youth engagement, and community development. His administration has delivered food and hygiene products to seniors in need, supported schools across the Center Point feeder pattern, and secured funding for safe sidewalks connecting schools to the recreation center promoting education, health, and safety for local children.
Secured funding to renovate the Community Center. Secured a grant to install solar panels to decrease energy costs. Secured technology grants.

His leadership extends across the region and nation. He serves as Vice President of the Policy Committee for the Metropolitan Planning Organization, First Vice President of the National Black Caucus of Locally Elected Officials, and Vice Chair of the Information Technology and Communications Committee for the National League of Cities.

Mayor Scott has been recognized with several honors, including Mayor of the Year from the Alabama League of Municipalities, Gold Leadership Status with the National League of Cities, Emeritus status in the Alabama CMO program, and helping Center Point earn distinction as an Alabama Communities of Excellence (ACE) city.

One of the hallmarks of Bobby Scott’s leadership is his accessibility. He is known as a mayor who is always willing to listen, personally follow up on concerns, and take action to help residents. He believes every citizen deserves to be heard—and when needed, listened to—with thoughtful, timely solutions.

If re-elected, Mayor Scott plans to continue building a strong, inclusive future—strengthening public safety through a proud and supported police department, enhancing mental and physical wellness programs, and expanding economic development opportunities for all.

His leadership is guided by humility, respect, and a commitment to helping others succeed—because as he always says:
We’re building community one step at a time.
